About the Columbia Ice Eagles

The Columbia Eagles Ice Hockey Club was founded in 1999, by a small group of experienced hockey players with a desire to play high school ice hockey and dedicated parents with a vision to turn their dreams into reality. Because of their efforts and the ongoing commitment of subsequent players and parents, the Club continues to grow and now rosters both varsity and junior varsity teams. This “continued growth” not only ensures the future stability of the Club, but also allows the experienced players to compete at the higher, more competitive “varsity” level, while allowing the less experienced or novice players to develop their hockey skills at the “junior varsity” level.

The Columbia Eagles Ice Hockey Club is a Member of the Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association (MVCHA). The MVCHA is composed of teams in Madison, Monroe and St. Clair Counties and is an affiliate of USA Hockey, which governs amateur ice hockey in the United States.

The Club is neither administratively nor financially supported by the High School. However, the school has generously supported the team by allowing signups at school, by announcing game times and results, and allowing Club posters at the school. As a result, the Eagles Ice Hockey Club has been able to build one of the largest fan bases in the MVCHA. Funding is provided through Members’ registration fees, sponsors and various fundraisers.
